Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Last updated: 11 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Trialmetrics collects, why, and what rights you have. Trialmetrics is operated from the United Kingdom and is the data controller for the personal data described here. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and, for users in the European Economic Area, the EU GDPR.
The clinical trial and research site data shown on Trialmetrics comes from public registries such as ClinicalTrials.gov. This policy covers the personal data of people who use Trialmetrics, not the public registry data.
Your email address and password (stored securely hashed), or, if you sign in with Google, your name, email address and profile picture. We also store your subscription plan.
Watched trials, conditions and sponsors, alerts and any preferences you set, so we can show them to you and send the alerts you asked for.
If you subscribe, Stripe collects your card details and billing address. We receive only a customer reference, your plan, payment status and the last four digits and expiry date of your card.
Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Our page analytics are anonymous and do not identify you.
If you contact us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you.
Data protection law requires a lawful basis for each way we use personal data. These are ours:
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and running your account, watchlists and alerts | Contract: we need it to provide the service you signed up for |
| Taking payment and managing your subscription | Contract, and legal obligation for tax and accounting records |
| Sending account, billing and alert emails | Contract |
| Occasional product update emails | Legitimate interests. You can unsubscribe at any time |
| Keeping the service secure and preventing abuse (for example bot checks) | Legitimate interests |
| Understanding how the site is used, using anonymous page-view statistics | Legitimate interests |
We do not sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
We use an AI model (Google Gemini, accessed through Vercel AI Gateway) to write plain-language summaries of trial descriptions, analytics and research sites. Only public registry data is sent to the model. Your account details, searches and saved items are never sent.
AI is never used to calculate metrics, scores or rankings.
We use these service providers to run Trialmetrics. They process data only on our instructions and for the purposes listed:
We may also share data when required by law, to protect our legal rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business, in which case the buyer would be bound by this policy.
Some of our service providers store or process data outside the UK and EEA, mainly in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the UK-US Data Bridge, an adequacy decision, or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details.
We only use cookies that are strictly necessary: to keep you signed in and to protect forms from bots. Our page analytics do not use cookies and do not track you across other sites. Because of this, we do not ask for cookie consent.
Map tiles are loaded from Mapbox, which may store small amounts of data in your browser to deliver the map. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you will not be able to stay signed in.
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We use this information only to create and identify your Trialmetrics account and to contact you about your account. We do not access your Gmail, contacts, files, or any other Google data.
We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except the service providers that operate our platform (listed above). Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect Trialmetrics from your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data by contacting us.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access to production systems is restricted, and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the regulator where the law requires it.
You have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within one month and will not charge a fee. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your EU country. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.
Trialmetrics is a professional tool and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will also email account holders before it takes effect.
Email us about this policy or to use any of your data rights. We'll respond within one month.
